immersed in sounds · Soundscape #12 2 p.m. Sărata-Talpa, Bacău, România I recorded this Soundscape in the village of my childhood, in the backyard of my grandparents house. My village has the tradition to celebrate the last day of the year with the "Goat dance" or "Caprița" as we know it. The Caprița dance is a pagan shamanistic Tradition in which men, girls and boys, dressed up, with drums and brass instruments wander through towns and villages playing their traditional music, as one or more of the men, dressed in a stylized goat costume, performs a sort of goat dance trying to channel the goat spirit through sinuous movements. The goat dance marks the winter solstice and is a symbol of good luck and prosperity in the year to come. What you hear is the fermentation of all of that.
